Who We Are

Since its founding more than half a century ago, Meyer Sign & Advertising has been skillfully combining all the components necessary to create memorable custom signs in Mount Vernon and the surrounding communities. Our Mount Vernon sign shop provides exceptional design, fabrication, installation, and service for all our advertising projects. Added to these competencies is our knowledge of display technology, a keen understanding of the permitting process, and a strong customer service culture that began in 1956 with our founder, John Meyer, and continues to this day.

An immigrant’s ambition

Our founder, John Meyer, landed at Ellis Island with his family of four and $78 to his name. After escaping a work camp in Nazi Germany and joining the Dutch resistance, John’s life journey led him to opening a sign shop not long after settling in Washington’s Skagit Valley.

Starting with hand painted signs in its early days, Meyer Sign & Advertising has continually invested in the tools, technologies, and talents needed to offer our customers here in Mount Vernon a variety of custom sign, letter and decal options that enhance their brands.

A part of local history

Meyer Sign & Advertising has been part of the community and business fabric of the Skagit Valley for more than half a century. Drive past our headquarters on Old Highway 99 in Mount Vernon and you’ll see a piece of regional history. Our building began its life as the Chevron exhibit at the 1962 Seattle World’s Fair!

A second generation takes charge

Years before his passing in 1999, John Meyer laid the foundation for his company’s future by selling it to his daughter, Tonnie, and her husband, Martin Boer — both of whom benefited from John’s tutelage even after his retirement.

Over the years, Meyer Sign & Advertising has invested in a fleet of vehicles that safely and efficiently meet the demands of a wide range of installation and maintenance situations.

Installation and maintenance

We are proud to maintain a dedicated installation and maintenance team whose licenses and certifications range from boom operator to electrician, welder, and CPR training. Every project is unique…and our team handles them all with skill and professionalism.

In 2017, Meyer Sign transitioned to new ownership under long-time employee and general manager, Ken Hitt. We continue to nurture a skilled, competent, and dedicated team -- all the while preserving the culture of respect and appreciation for our customers and employees that began decades ago with John Meyer.

At Meyer Sign & Advertising we produce high quality custom signs at our Mount Vernon shop using the latest design concepts and fabrication techniques. We are a full-service company that can accommodate all your signage projects, from freeway high-rise pylons and electronic web-interfaced message centers, to monument displays and directories, as well as window letters and decals and vehicle graphics. Meyer Signs pride ourselves on being the go-to place in Burlington, Marysville, Everett, Arlington, and Mount Vernon for decals, lettering and signs.

Meyer Sign & Advertising is registered in Washington State as both general construction and electrical contractors, and we are fully registered, bonded and insured. We are also listed and registered with Underwriters Laboratories.

How We Do It
